WEEK NO. 6: LEMON CAKE, MADELEINES & GÂTEAU ALHAMBRA

This week we made a Lemon Cake, Madeleines and a Gâteau Alhambra.  Unlike last week, they all turned out pretty well.  My Madeleines were a little undercooked but that's because there were so many trays in the oven.  The Lemon Cake looked delicious and was quite tasty too.  My Gâteau Alhambra was surprisingly pretty.  For those of you who don't know, a Gâteau Alhambra is a chocolate hazlenut cake that has a layer of cake on the bottom, a layer of ganache on top, then another later of cake, with an outer coating of ganache and a dark chocolate glaze over the top.  Mine was decorated with a marzipan rose, which I was proud of for a first attempt.  My chocolate writing was pretty darn good too.  The chocolate glaze over the top was not perfect, but not bad either.  I just need to practice that a bit more.  All in all it was a good week.  Now if anyone is interested in coming over and eating the Gâteau Alhambra, please let me know.  I've had far too many sweets this week!
